Data is an integral part of modern life. If used wisely, it can be a beneficial aid in an organisation or in the home. But it can be used by governments and other bodies to control people. Why should governments seek to hold personal data in centralized databases? There is an argument for holding DNA data, because it has a purpose. But do you want to be forced to carry an ID card ?
